Great book for a Halloween read-a-loud. Allow your child to be the voice of the skeleton and "have the hiccups".

The Three Bears (1972) by Paul Gladstone

A classic version perfect for younger readers. Large engaging illustrations.

Be Gentle (1997) by Virgina Miller

The title sums this one up. Although he loves her very much, Bartholomew is too rough with his new baby kitten.

Aunt Gina is a ballerina in the Nutcracker. Her niece Tilly not only gets to go backstage and put on a tutu from the wardrobe closet, but also gets a big birthday surprise.

Good early elementary book for a unit on spiders. Helen, the spider, makes the animals in the zoo happy by eating all the pesky flies she catches in her web, until the zookeepers decide to rid the place of all the cobwebs.
